Dental bridges —that literally bridge the gap created by one or more missing teeth—are a long-established treatment choice to replace teeth when they are lost. Two or more crowns placed on either side of the gap are the “anchoring teeth,” and they are attached to the false tooth or teeth in between. Dental bridges are made from gold, alloys, porcelain, or a combination of these materials, and are supported by natural teeth or implants.

What are the Benefits of Dental Bridges?

Restore a Smile

Save Remaining Dentition

When one or more teeth are lost the remaining teeth will eventually start moving out of position and become misaligned. Restoring your missing teeth with a dental bridge will prevent this process from happening, preserving your remaining priceless teeth.

Save Appearance of the Face

The face features are partially supported by teeth and bone of the mouth. When a tooth is lost, the face becomes less supported and appears to be shrunken at the area of tooth loss. A dental bridge will re-support the facial contours keeping your face young and full.handsome-474122_1280

Restore Tooth Function

Not only does loss of teeth affect chewing abilities but it also affects the way we speak. At Art Dentistry Maadi, our cosmetic and restorative specialists ensure that the dental bridges are placed accurately into position to restore its proper function.

What Is the Process for Getting Dental Bridges?
1During the first visit for getting a dental bridge, the abutment teeth are prepared. Preparation involves recontouring these teeth by removing a portion of enamel to allow room for a crown to be placed over them.
2Impressions of the teeth are made, which serve as a model from which the bridge, pontic, and crowns will be made by a dental lab.
3Your dentist will make a temporary bridge to wear to protect the exposed teeth and gums while the bridge is being made.
4During the second visit, your temporary bridge will be removed and the new porcelain or metal bridge will be checked and adjusted, as necessary, to achieve a proper fit.
5If the dental bridge is a fixed bridge, your dentist may temporarily cement it in place for a couple of weeks to make sure it is fitting properly.
6 After a couple weeks, the bridge is cemented into place.
